This is a fairly fundamental topic: sure, maybe you've realised that you need to create more content, or a more consistent marketing plan, and you want to increase your social media reach and build a more engaged network - but there are a lot of ways to do that, and a lot of people who can help - so why me?
This is me: I'm pretending that I'm a super professional business woman on my way to a super professional business meeting - but I'm actually on the train into London to see the Brain Cox Christmas Compendium (which was nothing like as good as I was hoping it would be - did you go? It was...memorable!)
After spending my A levels running the school newspaper and thinking I was a literary genius, I went on to study creative writing and contemporary culture (which is all about who we are, where we came from, and what matters to us, and the various subcultures that make up our society) realised I wasn't a genius, and put a lot of work into honing my writing and research skills.
I have been working as a professional copywriter since I was at university, 15 years ago, taking small jobs here and there to supplement the tiny income I had from part time work in shops and bars around classes, and building some connections that I hoped would see me skyrocket to fame as a columnist in the New York Times, full of witty repartee. Apparently, I am not the next Carrie Bradshaw - but I am great at writing the kind of content that connects with people.
As time passed I saw that a great many of my clients had a need not just for informative copy, describing their products or services, but for compelling marketing copy that sold the benefits of their range and of choosing them over their competitors.
This is more about selling the human side of business, the people who create, develop and distribute products, the clever, passionate minds behind developing services that make your life easier.
I added to my degree, getting diplomas in marketing, digital marketing, and social media marketing , working on my own brand and online presence in the process, and when my two sons were small I had a parenting blog which shared our adventures and the products that made our lives easier, from which I developed an online lifestyle magazine with a team of thirty writers.
I sold the magazine when my boys started school, and focussed more on the copywriting side of business, and I use the experience that time gave me in building networks and following, and using that network to promote and sell products and stories to help my clients to do the same.
Sometimes I do the promotional things for you, sometimes I teach you how to do it for yourself so that you can be as engaged with your audience and target market as possible, which helps you to know what they want, and how to provide it for them.
I have written for clients in such a wide range of industries that I'm never daunted by something new, knowing that I can research and write compelling marketing copy about pretty much anything - from swimming pool cleaning in the Florida Keys to neurological research into curing Alzheimer's disease, from leadership development to garage shelving, and I can tap into the unique selling points each person I work with offers and help them to build lasting relationships - which is the real key to success. As the saying goes; "it's not what you know, but who you know" - and I can help you get to know the right people, and have them get to know you.
If this sounds like the kind of approach you think your marketing and outreach needs, give me a call or pop me an email - I'd love to help you to make more of your business, and achieve the dreams you have for your future. I'm based in Bedford, but can work with clients from anywhere in the world with regular Skype meetings for those all important face-to-face meetings to discuss how we can work together, and I'm always available for a consultation and to offer advice.
